What is VRML ?
VRML stands for Virtual Reality Modeling Language, this an analogy between VRML & HTML. VRML was first introduced in the year 1994. VRML is used to create 3D worlds. This language was priorly called as Virtual Reality Markup Language, & then it was renamed to VR modeling language. These 3D worlds are also often called as Virtual Worlds. The extension of a VRML site or web page is .WRL. If you are familiar with Java then you will find this language very similar to it.

What are the Minimum hardware requirements to view VRML worlds ?
The minimum requirements to view a VRML site are
* A Pentium - 100 Mhz CPU with atleast 8 Mb of Ram
* An Adequate Graphics card with atleast 1 Mb of Ram
* A 28.8 kbps Modem
* And a VRML plugin

Recommended
* A Pentium - II 300 MHz CPU with 32 Mb Ram
* 4 Mb AGP card
* 56 kbps Modem
* And a VRML plugin

You should have patience when you visit a VRML site because at 28.8 kbps speeds it takes 2-3 minutes to load.

What should I have with me to view VRML enabled sites ?
To view a VRML site , you need to have a VRML Plug-in installed with your browser and also your browser should be able to handle such Plug-ins , But you need not worry about that , because if you have Internet Explorer 4.x or Netscape 4.x then you already have a VRML enabled browser . i.e. they can support a VRML Plug-in. Now the next thing & the important one is the Plug-in which would work hand in hand with the Browser. In this case Netscape is the winner , because it already has a VRML plug-in with it, it is shipped with the Software itself. The plug-in is called Cosmo Player , which is one of the best plug-ins available currently. If you need a plug-in with your other browser's then you may download it freely from the Internet.
